The disease of Angina may be described as a squeezing pain or a pressing feeling in the chest region. This discomfort is mostly caused by blockages in the arteries that are responsible in supplying blood to the heart. This disease is also referred to as coronary artery disease or heart disease. The disease of angina is highly responsible for increasing the chances of other heart diseases.
The basic symptoms associated with
the disease of angina:
The basic symptoms that describe this disease is generally described as crushing
or heavy and gripping pain. This unbearable pain in areas like:
• Centre of the chest
• In the neck region
• Around the jaws
• As well as arms, especially on the left arm.
Basic causes of the disease:
The disease of angina is pretty similar to muscle cramps ocuring during
exercise. It is primarily caused by the pulmonic muscles, or the muscles of the
heart. As these muscles do not receive enough amounts of oxygen for the work
they perform, this sensation of pain is created in the muscles of the heart.
This lack of oxygen is caused by the narrowed blood vessels that fail in
supplying the required maonts of oxygen to the pumping station of the human
body. Even though this narrowing of blood vessels comes naturally with age, it
is accelerated with an individual’s smoking habits. Diabetics and obese
individuals are more likely to suffer from this disease.
Treatment options of the disease
The treatment options of the disease include:
• Rest medications (nitroglycerin, calcium chanellblockers, beta blockers)
• Percutaenous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA)
• Coronary artery bypass graft suregery (CABG).
Other preventive measures
These include:
Loss of extra weight.
Proper eating habits with a good fibre intake.
Regular exercise.
Avoiding unnecessary stress.
Lower intake of alcohol
